SuperTarget on the Way?

Target LogoEarlier this year there were talks of a Target on the east side of town, however those plans were pulled as Target had bigger plans.

SuperTarget is now setting it’s sights on Waconia and it could become a reality. The 177,000 square foot store would be located on the south side off highway 5 on the east side of town.

Target hasn’t officially announced it’s plans, but the idea has gone to the planning commission for approval.

No start date or completion date is known, but it does look like SuperTarget wants to make Waconia home.

Small Engine Repair? Lawnmower Repair?

I’m looking for a small engine repair shop, or person, in Waconia. My lawnmower is, well, not well. Everything jiggles loose and it smokes. Works, but I’m afraid it’s going to burst into flames or fall apart. Yes, it sounds great does it? 🙂

I’d like to find a nice, local place to take it to. One that doesn’t take a month to fix it would be nice and one that doesn’t charge me an arm and a leg. Free estimates are always good.

Our lawnmower is a Craftsman and I’m unsure of the age. Doesn’t look that old though. We go it for free and if it doesn’t get fixed soon, it’s getting replaced.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Nickle Dickle Day 2006

Nickle Dickle Day is fast approaching. This year it takes place on September 16, 2006 and it’s a great outing for everybody.

There are antique cars, trucks and tractors, plenty of craft vendors, kids activities, food and even a 5k & 10k run for that athlete in you.

I went last year and there was quite a bit. More antique cars/trucks than I’d seen before and enough craft vendors that I found my mom a great birthday present. I also got mini doughnuts for myself. 😉

Head to downtown Waconia and City Square Park to catch all of the action.

Check out the official Nickel Dickle Day website for more information.

Nancy’s Landing Restaurant Review

Over the weekend we went out to Nancy’s Landing. We’ve heard mixed reviews about the restaurant and have mixed opinions.

Nancy’s Landing is located on Lake Waconia and the view is excellent. With the water every way you look, it’s a great environment to have a meal.

We had made reservations, so our table was ready and waiting when we got there. However, looking around, it wasn’t full. Could have been the time of the day, or the weather, but I expected it to be packed.

We went for Sunday brunch and every Sunday is a different theme. Our theme happened to be ‘South of the Border’ or something like that. So the food included more of a mexican flair. Not being big fans of that kind of food, it made out visit not quite what we were hoping for.

There was quite a bit of food though, from fruits and vegetables to made-to-order omelets and waffles, eggs, bacon, burritos, fish and quite the desert table. There was definitely something for everyone, but yet, not that many choices. It looked beautiful and looked like a lot of food, but I think that since the theme was not our taste pallet, it left us not quite satisfied.

When the check came, it was about $20 per person. Again, with the right theme, it might have been worth it, but this time it just seemed to be a bit much.

I think that if you call ahead and find out the theme before making reservations, you’ll be better off. The restaurant looks great, the view is amazing and the food has the ability to just as good.

Mackenthun’s Grocery Expands & Goes Organic

Mackenthun’s grocery store, which has a history of quickly growing bigger and better, is getting ready to grow yet again. This time with a 15,000 square foot expansion (currently it’s 50,000) on the west side. The push? A wider selection of organic and natural foods and a deli expansion.

The expansion may start as early as this fall, but the store really wants to know what you want before it starts anything.

If you want to voice your opinion, just call the main store line at 952-442-2512 and let them know you want to be in the focus group. They want your opinion, even if you don’t care for organic foods. It’s an expansion, who knows what they might add!

County Fair Starts Today!

The 2006 Carver County Fair starts today. We drove by last night and the rides were going up and the fair was buzzing with people getting everything ready.

To get to the fair take Highway 5 into Waconia, turn at the Hospital and then take a left on 3rd street. Then it’s just one block down on your left.

Check out Yahoo Maps for more detailed instructions.

Kwik Trip Is On Its Way

You can’t quite see it yet, but there’s a Kwik Trip in the works for Waconia! Off of County Road 30 and Highway 5 the new gas station, connivance store and car wash will sit.

Personally I like Kwik Trips as they have decent food, clean stores, nice car washes, rock your pop drinks, no-fee atms and some even have E-85. However, I don’t see how we need yet another gas station but I’ll give Kwik Trip my business!!

Kwik Trip is one of the businesses that will appear in that area. I hear more shops are planned as that area quickly expands.

Highway 5 Done?

The highway 5 project outside of Waconia hit a milestone this week as it appears that all lanes are in place and all lines are painted on.  There is still some shoulder work to do, but the highway 5 project could be in the final stages.  Exciting!
